Annammal loves to curl up with a good book

Annammal studies in grade two in a school run by Isha Vidhya in Tamil Nadu. She has two younger sisters. Her father is a farmer and her mother is a housewife. The financial situation of the family is such that Annammal barely gets to eat one proper meal in a day. The meals that she is fed are lacking in essential nutrients, because of which she is undernourished.

Proper nutrition will also ensure that she is less susceptible to illnesses, and can concentrate better on her studies.

Public transportation is virtually non-existent in the area, making it almost impossible for Jeevitha’s parents to send her to school. Isha Vidhya, therefore, provides transportation to get her to school.
