Despite tragedy, Baranitharan continues going to school

Baranitharan studies in grade 2 at a school run by Isha Vidhya in Tamil Nadu.

His father, Rajaram, passed away very suddenly due to a heart attack, leaving his mother, Mahaselvi, to bring up the children alone. She, however, has a three month old baby, because of which she cannot go out to work, and she depends on handouts from relatives to survive. The family has absolutely no income, and they often go hungry for days on end. Mahaselvi, unlike most other women in the village has studied upto grade 5, and realizes the value of a good education. Once her baby is a little older, she is determined to find work, so she can ensure that her children get an education and make something of their lives.

Thank you Employees of Microsoft, for providing an entire year of nutritious school meals to Baranitharan. There is very little food in his house, and by providing him with a school lunch, you will make sure that he gets at least one good meal every day. You are a savior to little Baranitharan.
