Thirusha loves flowers

vil10135
Dear Dennis, Julia, Niraj, Tite, William, Mohit S, P, and Nitya,

Thank you for coming together to support six year old Thirusha.

Thirusha studies in grade one in the free school run by Isha Vidhya in Tamil Nadu. Her father is a farmer  and his mother is a housewife. She is the second of three children in the family. The monthly income of her family is Rs. 3,000  ($ 70) per month, which is barely sufficient to meet the basic needs of the family.

As a result of poverty, coupled with lack of knowledge, Thirusha is undernourished. This makes her susceptible to illnesses, and she is not able to concentrate in class, which has an adverse impact on her education.

Your donation, Julia, will enable Isha Vidhya to provide a healthy and tasty school lunch to Thirusha for an entire year.

Your donation, Dennis, will enable Isha Vidhya to provide two sets of school uniforms to Thirusha. She can now look neat and tidy when she comes to school.

Your donations, PV, Tite, William, Niraj, Mohit and Nitya, will enable Isha Vidhya to provide an entire year of transportation to Thirusha. Now, she will be able to attend school regularly, without being dependent on someone to drop her off and pick her up.

Thank you for putting the smile back on Thirusha’s face. Thirusha enjoys drawing, and she loves flowers. If she could, she would love to make you a card which has all her favorite flowers on it!

Dhana Lakshmy is interested in reading

vil10140
Dear Subash, Carol, Dhaval, Craig, and Sanjay,

Thank you for coming together to support Dhana Lakshmy.

Six year old Dhana Lakshmy studies in grade one in a school run by Isha Vidhya in Tamil Nadu. She is an only child, and since her father suffers from a heart disease, she stays with her grandmother. The financial situation of the family is such that Dhana Lakshmy barely gets to eat one proper meal in a day. The meals that she is fed are lacking in essential nutrients, because of which she is undernourished.

Your donations of three months of school lunches each, Digvijay, Carol, Dhaval and Craig, will ensure that Dhana Lakshmy is fed one wholesome meal a day in school everyday for an entire school year. Proper nutrition will also ensure that she is less susceptible to illnesses, and can concentrate better on her studies.

Thank you, Sanjay, for providing an entire year of transportation to Dhana Lakshmy. She lives in a village quite far from where the school is located, and unless transportation is provided, she ends up having to miss school on days when people cannot take the time off to drop her off and pick her up. Your generosity ensures that  she can attend school regularly.

Even though she is a very quiet girl, Dhana Lakshmy is a bright student, and your support will go a long way in keeping her healthy and in ensuring that she gets a good education. Thank you for your generosity.

SYI-SATHISH-VIL122-15.04.20115
Dear Laurent and UBS,

Eight year old, Sathish,  studies in grade 3, in a school run by Isha Vidhya in Tamil Nadu. His father is an unskilled agricultural laborer who works for daily wages. If he is lucky enough to find work every day, he earns about Rs.2500 ($ 56) per month, which is barely sufficient to meet the needs of the five member family. However, most of the time, the father finds it difficult to find work, and the family often goes without proper food for days of end.

Your donations,Laurent (x3) and UBS will enable Isha Vidhya to provide a hot, nutritious meal to Sathish every day, for an entire year. This will not only ensure that the boy doesn’t have to starve if his father doesn’t find work, it also ensures that his family sends him to school regularly.

Little Jayapriya can attend school and stay healthy!

SYI-JAYAPRIYA-SYI110-08.04.11
Dear Sanjay, Fleming, Lee, Luke and Ani, Marc, Mark and Lynn, and Michael,

Seven year old Jayapriya comes from a small village in Tamil Nadu. Her father runs a small-scale grocery shop, along the pavement and barely earns enough to support the needs of his family. Jayapriya’s mother also helps her father, in the shop. Together, they earn a meager sum of Rs, 1,500 ($34) a month, with which they have to provide for their two children, food and educational needs.

Despite their poor economic condition, the parents were very keen on getting their children educated and have enrolled both the children at Isha Vidhya School. Jayapriya is currently studying in grade 3 while her little brother is studying in grade 1, in the same school.

Due to inadequate nutrition, Jayapriya was anemic and malnourished and could not concentrate on her studies. Your donations, Sanjay, Mark and Lynn and Michael (x2) will enable Isha Vidhya to provide a year of nutritious lunches to Jayapriya, thereby ensuring that she remains healthy and safe from illness.

In the village that they live in, public transportation is very unreliable and almost non-existent, making it difficult for Jayapriya and her brother to attend school. Her parents struggle to get their children to school each day, and many a times, they miss school because of no proper mode of transportation.

Your generous donations, Fleming, Lee, Luke and Ani and Marc will enable Isha Vidhya to provide a year of transportation for Jayapriya, thereby ensuring that she attends school everyday.

Thank you all, for ensuring that Jayapriya’s stomach is full, and she is able to attend school regularly. Your support comes as a big relief to her parents!

Santhya can now attend school

SYI-SANTHYA-VIL13-2010-11
Dear Laurent,

Five year old Santhya studies in Upper Kindergarten in a school run by Isha Vidhya in Tamil Nadu. She is a very quiet and reserved child, who doesn’t like taking to others. She rarely joins in the energetic games that her classmates play, and prefers to play with dolls instead.

Santhya is the oldest of three children. Her father is an unskilled laborer who works for daily wages. If he is lucky enough to find work every day, he earns about Rs.2500 ($ 56) per month, which is barely sufficient to meet the basic needs of the family. When he finds it difficult to get work, the family has to go hungry for days on end, or depend on others to help them survive.

Since Santhya rarely has enough to eat, she finds it difficult to concentrate on her schoolwork. Your donation, Laurent will enable Isha Vidhya to provide a hot, nutritious meal to Santhya every day. This will not only ensure that she doesn’t have to starve if her father doesn’t find work, it also ensures that her family sends her to school regularly.

Santhya lives in a village near Vizhupuram. Since public transportation is virtually non-existent in the area, Santhya’s parents found it very difficult to get her to school. Your donation, Laurent, will enable Isha Vidhya to provide transportation to get Santhya to school everyday.

Thank you, Laurent, for ensuring that Santhya’s stomach is full, and she is able to attend school. Every additional year of schooling that Santhya gets will increase her chances of escaping an early marriage and pregnancy, and of becoming economically self-sufficient.
